Do we try to recruit people or do we try to help people come to their own conclusions? I think we are very often guilty of the former.
But ask you yourself does a man preaching on the corner and telling you that you are going to hell ever convince someone to come to his church. Doubtful. That is a man out of good ideas and hes really just pleasuring himself with the sound of his own voice.
However the man that asks you a question. The saleswoman that asks why you need a new caryou need the new car for. The dad that ask their child what they want to do when they grow up. These are people that get the wheels spinning. We are missing the opportunity to help a person start down the road to critical thinking rather than just insisting they be like us, which is quite frankly, probably not that attractive an offer.
